    Re: Garcia Mojaves?

Marshall Van Thorre produced the two females I'm calling Garcia Mojave by breeding his Mojave to a female I'm calling Garcia.

I found that original female as a small adult in a pet store back in 2001.

I stubbornly tried to breed her to an unproven possible het caramel male for a few years with no success and then loaned her to Daniel Garcia. Daniel tried for a few more years using an interesting looking but unproven import male from RDR before eventually getting a nice clutch in 2007 with about half the babies looking like mom. Those half like mom varied some (father’s influence?) and here is one of the nicest ones.

So in honor of Daniel’s success in finally getting her to produce (not sure if she was an import or just picky about her guys) I'm calling this morph (as yet unknown if dominant or co-dominant) Garcia. Some have noticed similarities with chocolate and sable so it may eventually be found to be the same but I'm not sure it fits exactly.

The Garcia's have wide dark pattern and a lot if iridescence and while generally dark the head tends to fade a little. Mom's belly is pretty clear but the 2007 girl has a little dark on her belly but I'm not sure it's as much as I gather a chocolate or sable should have.

I had originally thought mom might be a white snake complex animal so for 2008 I loaned her to Marshall Van Thorre who bred her to a lesser and a mojave and produced a 14 egg clutch that hatched the first male that looks like her (all 2007’s where females) along with some normals (at least one of which had some sable like characteristics), mojave’s, mojave’s with a little odd look, and two obvious Garcia and Mojave combos. Here is an older picture of my Garcia Mojave.

I'll try to get some better pictures. I have a 2008 male mojave that looks a little like the obvious combo female but I'm not sure if he has Garcia too or just Mojave but he is breeding so maybe I'll find out that way. Here is a picture with the 2008 Garcia Mojave female on the left (notice the space between alien heads and the white flecking in the lower dark, the color is also chocolate like but didn’t come out very well in the pic), the 2007 Garcia in the middle, and the 2008 Mojave male that I’m hoping might have some Garcia hidden underneath on the right.
