no.. that's a myth they don't need two hides... he has one hide and out of curiosity what do hides have to do with why he was in the water? the warmest part of his cage is 95 where his hide is. and the cage it self has an ambient of about 80-85...

its not really a myth some will not eat if they dont have 2 hides. some seem to not want any hides. you didnt say how big he is but im leaning towards he might not like his temps so high does he ever go to the warm side?

I would personally check the water.. Sometimes it's to drown mites(if they have them). And if so some may be in the water... Pretty hard to spot though.

he's about 240grams and this is the first time he's done what I've described and i've had him sinve october last year same temps. but maybe he may have changed his tastes for his temps...? and yes he does use his warm side .. this was again a once in a lifetime occurence that lasted no more that 5 minutes... I just got concerned because i've never seen him do that before.. and also because i read the they try to drown mites that way but there are no mites and he didn't stay in long at all...

well if it was only 5 minutes i wouldnt worry about it too much.
as for mites if you think you might have them or there is a chance you could get them at one point i would get some provent-a-mite
