I would lower the herpstat until the accurite reads 92-94

    Re: temp?!

Do you have a temp gun? Is the Acu-Rite new? Have you checked the Acu-Rite against a temperature that you are pretty sure of?

I use Herpstat's and have the larger RBI cages with RHP's and the cage temp correlates pretty well with the Herpstat setting. Lets see.... hang on....

Okay, I have my Herpstat set almost 2 degrees lower than where I want my cage to be

you may have to move the probe...sometimes they can be funky, if you move it check the temp, i bet it will change slightly just adjust the probe.

    Re: temp?!

well moved the probe a little. i felt the bottom under the substrate, it wasnt warm. but the thermometer reads 93 while herpstat reads 83. so i decide to turn herpstat up to 89 and now i feel a little warmth but acurite reads 100. i have to wait until next week for a temp gun. so what shall i do in mean time?

    Re: temp?!

    Hi,

I just temp gunned my hand and it was 94.3 so 93 wouldnt feel warm to me either I suspect.

I'm not sure what to advise on the probe/thermometer thign though as I have never seen those cages so do not know the layout of either in relation to the actual heating element.

    Re: temp?!

The hot spot in my cage (94-95) is barely warm to the touch.

Trust the acu-rite and wait for a temp gun.
