    Few BP random questions

Sorry didnt want to make a bunch of threads, so I did one big one

    1. Scale rot- how long does a snake have to sit in damp subtrate till it develops scale rot?

my snakes keep tipping over their water, I know i need a good non tip-able bowl. would it be okay for me to dump the water out the tub that was spilt, leaving the newspaper damp and let it dry over night, or is 24 hours of a damp/wet newspaper risking it for my snake, just got tired of always throwing away newspaper because its wet?

    2. Any problems feeding live ASFs, will they harm my 1-2 year old pythons??

I am breeding ASFs now, I know i can feed small asfs, but what about adults ASFs? I have 6 month olds - 2 year old pythons, what size ASFs are recommended for what age python. Could I feed a adult ASF that weighs about 70 grams to my 2 year old that weighs 700 grams safely? I know my python will grabbed her immediatly but wat about the biting while suffocating, will it cuase some serious bite wounds??

    3. Sick mice, how to treat a sick mouse thats about to die?

I can always notice a sick mouse before it dies, I get all mine from Petco, some get sick within a day or 2 others a few weeks later, their eyes stay shut, become non-active, and just look like there shivering. What do you do when you see that, how to make them better, all still young mice? I just feed them off immediately now, cause they always seem to die a day later. And YES, I always clean their bins weekly, food/water is always there for them.

    Re: Few BP random questions

As for 3, personally I would kill the mouse and throw it out, then hope that the others do not die as well. Alternatively EVERY time you go get mice you could sign a live animal waver and return the animal if it ends up ill within the first 24 (or 48?) hours. But I would not feed my snakes sick mice, and if any of the mice got sick I would probably scrap the entire lot of them. I doubt the snake can catch anything off the mice, but you could (perhaps Toxoplasmosis) or other animals you have could (same as before) or your snake's leavings could contain it. But yeah I'm paranoid and er on the side of caution.

Again I have never had a mouse die of illness or natural causes after getting them from the pet store. Well unless you want to consider a snake eating it a natural cause. In fact I'd probably call the pet store complaining and not go there anymore. Kinda how while this girl I know says every pet store has dead fish I say that if you see a dead fish that means that the petstore is not doing it's job (aka they should have removed the fish and probably quarantined the rest) and as such should not be purchased from.

A while, but why risk it? When you see it wet, change it.

ASF, like any live feeder, will bite back. Use your discretion on that one.

Take it to the vet if you care enough to get it well. If not... do what you have to do.

Its not a big problem. Leave it alone and it will shed away.
