Hi,

No you don't need to put any tags round it at all.

The board automatically detects web links and inserts the url tags round them.

It's because youtube is made for hosting videos. Hotlinking steals bandwidth from the site you take the pics from - that is why you can't do it. Youtube is there for hosting videos.

Err..

We have always allowed youtube video's to be posted - along with images from photobucket, imageshack, imageuploads and other sites whose TOS allow hotlinking.

What we do not allow is stealing the bandwidth from other sites who have not agreed to it - Thats why, when anyone posts a link, muggins here has to cut back to the base site to find out what kind of site it is and what it allows or forbids. I also have to try and find out who owns it in case it is the person who made the post on here.

I do not always get that right but I do always try.

If it comes from your personal site or a hosting site - it's fine.

If you have express permission from the owner of the site it is hosted on then it is fine but you will need to tell us that as it is not the kind of thing we could be expected to know.

If it doesn't or you don't then it probably isn't. If there is a site or link your not sure of you can send it to any member of staff and ask their opinion.

And it's not me personally - I just go by the rules of the site as they are explained to me.
