Re: Can i use cypress mulch
Honestly i wouldnt . they are used to very dry regions (sand , rock , dry dirt) cypress mulch is a moist bedding .
and if they actually injest any of it it could cause blockage in their system .
I love it when people tell me, "You should think before you speak!" I'm like, "I did. It's what I think and I really don't give a crap what other people think."

I use newspaper on mine. But I wanted to change things up a bit. I've heard bad things about sand. Thats why I stay away from it.

it depends it usually happens to baby beardeds not adults
out of all the beardeds and leos ive owned i have never had a probelm with a play sand/calcium sand mixture ...
but building a habitat for beardeds sand and rock formations is the most realistic to the natural settings they are used to .. but in the end its a choice your going to have to make on what your going to use ..

If you care for your beardie at all put them on a non particle substrate. Calci sand will dye your beardie, turns into cement inside of them, is dusty( which effects babys AND adults) and is hard to clean. And please do not tell people that sand and rocks are what they live on, they live on hard clay.
Do not wait until it is too late.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Re: Can i use cypress mulch
Substrate and dragons what a touchy subject. But cypress mulch? No! I have used regular play sand. There are a couple a down falls to the sand that I did not like. It holds an odor, it's dusty when sifting through it and when I need to change the sand it was a pain. I have recently changed to ceramic tile and it is OK. The cleanup is easier, no dust and nothing for them to ingest. When you have 20+ dragons anything that makes cleanup easier.
The most important thing is to do your research and have everything you need so your dragon can live a happy and healthy life.
