Need Suggestions
I put the cart before the horse. I bought a 3x2x2 cage but now that I have it set up I can't decide what snake would be best for it. Here is a picture.

I've never owned a snake before but have read, and read, ......then I read some more but I still don't know what is right for me. I've considered a centralian, jungle, hog island, ball, and irian jaya to name a few.
What would be a good match for a newb and this cage setup?

Re: Need Suggestions
Awesome display!!!
That cage set-up is great for an arboreal - like a green tree python. But, arboreal snakes are not recommended for beginner pet owners.
I'm sure a ball python would be happy there!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Re: Need Suggestions
Agreed... that's a nice setup for an arboreal snake: Carpet, GTP, or Emmy.

Re: Need Suggestions
Is that a cage from pvccages.com?
And for a snake to go in there, a Jungle Carpet Python!
It's my second snake, I have the same size enclosure (from AP) with an RHP as well and a perch like yours.
The temperatures get in the perfect range in a cage like that, and JCPs are not too hard to take care of either.
Nice setup!

Re: Need Suggestions
Since it is a beginner, I vote carpet, as it fits well into the arboreal style cage....though I admit a GTP or ETB would be awesome, but not starters. I think a carpet would be a descent, perhaps not best, starter snake that would do well.

Re: Need Suggestions
If you do decide on a carpet, get a rat eater...
