    Re: Wastefull people

Be careful what you recycle my brother picked up what seemed to be a PERFECT computer desk, it even looked brand new I gave him props. Five days later I see him itching all over and he can't make out why, upon further inspection the new desk was ridden with bedbugs!

He had this chair sit in his bedroom for 5 days so they had time to infest his entire bedroom and then had to call a exterminator and buy a completely new bedroom set as those buggers had crept into the actual wood of every furniture piece in that room.

I agree with your post though people throw away things for the dumbest reasons, but sometimes you just have to ask yourself why this is too good to be true.

I grabbed an art deco floor lamp out of the garbage once on my way home... I was sitting on the train going home and the woman behind me started asking her friend "Did your cat pee on your shoes or something, because I can smell cat!!!"

The one thing I CANT find someone giving away is an old mini fridge to make my incubator out of. I would love one of those clear front fridges but I cant find a darned one.

Do you have an eco-centre in your town. Not sure what they call them elsewhere, basically like a recycling depot for appliances and what not.

Same with putting a "wanted" ad on C-list.

    Re: Wastefull people

Most all cities have some form of freecycle set up. Most are yahoo groups.

It is pretty nice. If you plain old have something that you don't need or want anymore, but don't want to throw it in a landfill you simply post it up, and an email is sent to all the users in that group. Someone wants it, they come pick it up.

But, there are not supposed to be any sales. If you want to get rid of something you have to give it away. You also can not post anything with a heartbeat.

    Re: Wastefull people

I kick myself now, but about 6 months ago one of the tenents up the road moved out, and when the landlord cleaned out the cabin they threw away 3 mini fridges, and a couple giant display coolers(the round kind)
with no place to put them I did not get them

We have no centers like that around here, there is an aluminum place 30mi from here. We take cans in once every 2-3 months. But the dump is open, you can go there and pay them $5-10 and haul stuff out. (I have not been, but that was told by someone who got a fridge there)
