Unless you are choosing to cool for breeding, there is no reason to fluctuate the temps at night time

just so you hear it from multiple people (alwas helps me feel better at least!) I have to agree that night time lows are not important at all for the health of a ball python.

Tubs are best at keeping in humidity and heat.
I use a 20 gallon long glass cage with screen top, and what I do is I cover 3/4 of the screen with aluminum foil (plastic wrap might work even better), and have a generous portion of sphagnum moss (also known as frog moss, comes in brick form from petco and such) that I spray daily. I also have a nice sized waterbowl.

Tubs are great, but don't forget about reptile cages! All my cages from RBI hold the humidity really, really well

I've always been under the impression that you only drop the temp if you are cooling for breeding. Otherwise constant temps are the way to go.
