I tend to do CList for my free stuff, and I watch it as well.
I used to drive stuff around town (not to take it for car rides but to drop it off), but now that I do not have a vehicle I cannot deliver it.
The rare occasion is stuff like work boots and what not. Those I will take to the teen shelter for vocational placements.
I got a incubator bar fridge for 5.0$ from the Eco-Centre in Montreal. I had put an ad online that I was looking for one and a guy took the task on would email whenever he saw one being tossed out. Scary part was that he saw at least 2 a week!
Just in the trash, not being recycled, etc.
One thing I love about Montreal though, especially in my neighbourhood, is the DIE-HARD dumpster divers. Dumpster diving is not shameful here it is a municipal sport. And man, do you have to be fast!
You can see something on the street and if you don't grab it within a few minutes it gets carted off.
Same with when you're moving. You have to label stuff as NOT GARBAGE, or by the time you do the flight of stairs and come back down it will all be gone.
When I moved into my new place I was looking out the window and saw a large white bookcase in the alley. I though right on, a unit for hides and what nots for the snake room. By the time I walked down the stairs two hippies had grabbed it and were wandering off with it. *DOH*
First one to get their hands on it wins.
When I had reptiles in tanks, I never paid for a singe one, same with all my rat cages. Got them all for free. When I no longer need them, same deal. I will recycle them to someone that can use them.
