I agree, there is nothing wrong with a little bit of "friendly" intimidation by unusually large boyfriends. -lol- Also, don't forget that there are good networking tools online such as myspace (yes, it can be useful from time to time), facebook - any of those type of sites. There's also craigslist. Post some stuff up, get some people interested, and see what you can do.

Also, call the ASPCA tomorrow and ask who they refer reptile-related problems to. They will usually have a number. If they tell you to call the police, then call the police and see who they suggest you speak to. You can also try calling places that specialize in pest removal. From time to time they will have to deal with reptiles, and I bet they have a number for a reptile rescue place. Just start calling people. Someone will be able to point you in the right direction. I know that the humane society of the united states has an e-mail address on their website. You may also try e-mailing them.

I will help in whatever way I can. I hate to hear stories like this. I am not in the area, but if there's anything I can do from afar I will. If you are able to get the snake and need a little bit of money for its food or something, let me know. There's never enough money to go around, but I definitely don't mind sharing what little I have. Please keep me updated. PM me if you like.

Thank you so much. I will see what I can do tomorrow. I only have internet access at work and I'm about to close for the night, so tomorrow morning when I come back I'll work on it. I really appreciate your offer. I'm sure there is something that can be done. This burm is living in a tiny octogon tank, probably 10 gallons, since being serperated from the ball yesterday. God knows if or when the guy will get it an even slightly larger tank and it definitely doesn't have any heat source or food. This guy has no problem hitting women, I can't imagine what he might do to a snake if it bites him 'cus it's starved.

Thank you. We'll figure something out. I'll post something about it in the big snakes forum or whatever.

    Talking Happy update!

I found a non-profit org. to take the burm!!

    Posted about it here:
    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...670#post955670

Now I just have to get the burm away from the guy. I'm going to try to talk to him tonight or tomorrow. If he won't give it up then atleast I'll be able to take some pics for proof and call the police. I was worried the police wouldn't know what to do with it and simply have it put down but with serpentsanctuary.org agreeing to take it in and treat it, I'm not so worried about that. YAY!!

Thanks to all for the support and advice!

Will let you know what's up when I can get back online on Wednesday.

    Re: SO happy and relieved!

If you call the ASPCA they will have no choice but to put it down. Any snake that size and that is aggressive they will refuse to give to anyone. If you call the police the same thing will happen, the police don't have a clue so they will call the ASPCA and the animal will end up in the same hands. Your best bet is to try and contact a breeder or hobbiest and have them take in the snake, thats the only way I see a large agressive snake not being put down, even the non profits might put it down seeing as the snake is aggressive and will grow much bigger. Just my 2 cents, thanks for the rescue though.

That's exactly what she did. She has a non-profit snake rescue that has already agreed to take the snake. She will be going through the police to forcefully remove the animal. At least, that's my understanding.

    I feel like an idiot...

So myself, C and my bf all went to this guy's house to try to talk him into giving us the snake, and if he refused then I was going to take pics of the condition it was being kept in and go to the police...

When we got there the snake was in a large enough tank, had a hide box, a full water dish and a heat light. There was a rat sitting in another tank waiting to be dinner.

I don't know whether this chick C lied to me or if this guy suddenly pulled a 180 and is now taking care of the snake all of a sudden... But either way I feel like a complete tool and a moron. The snake didn't look real skinny so I'm going to have to take a guess that C was just making stuff up or atleast exagerating a whole lot.

So here I am, with somebody from a reptile rescue waiting for me to bring her this abused, sickly snake... Me walking into this guy's house ready to start quoting him laws and fine amounts for the willful neglect and animal cruelty, about to start demanding he surrender his animal that he's been torturing...

And the snake is perfectly fine.

I don't know... Maybe C. wasn't lieing and maybe she just told him enough times that he's not taking care of it right and it finally sunk in and he started taking care of it all of a sudden. I know he didn't know we were coming so I know it wasn't just a show.

So either way the snake is doing well. I am SOOOO sorry for getting everyone involved in this b.s. and wasting everyone's time. I feel stupid, but I know that I did what I could to try and save an abused animal, so I feel good about that... I just feel decieved. And glad that the burm is doing well.

    Sorry again.

don't feel bad, there's no reason to. if we didn't want to get involved we all would've kept checking another thread, and not continuing to send p.m. and follow up posts. i know i am happy that the burm is ok now. and hopefully it will stay that way
