    Thermostat placement pt 2

So I had this thread goin last week talkin about where to place thermostat probe when using flexwatt or a UTH, but today my RHPs from RBI should be coming in. My custom wood cages are complete (pics to come when they are set up) only awaiting heater install.

soooo where do you place your thermostat and thermometer probes when using this method of heating? would it be the same? Right now I am thinkin to put the thermostat probe on the panel and the thermometer probe stuck to the wall about 2 or 3 inches above susbtrate
    Thanks!

Hi, I use an RHP in an RBI cage - I put the probe to my thermostat underneath my substrate (which is indented craft paper) on the hot side. I use the Helix Thermostat and currently 94 degrees on the Helix keeps my temps in check.

    Hope this helps.

I hang the probe 3/4 of the way down to the floor and zip tie it against the wall of the cage.

I position the RHP so that it is off-center and to one side of the cage. This gives the largest thermoregulation opportunities

    Re: Thermostat placement pt 2

Hey Starmom, Sounds like we have the same cages for our snakes. My RHP came preinstalled into my cage - it is an 80watt RHP and Rich from RBI mounted it to the far left side which gives me a foot or so on the cool side that has no RHP - seems to be working out so far.

One question for you, do you have a hard time keeping the humidity the same on the hot/cold side - my cool side always stays at 50/52% but my hot side struggles to stay in the hi 40's - any helpful suggestions.

I bought a room humidifier but not very impressed with that soo far - doesn't seem to effect my cage at all?? And I also wet down the green mossey stuff each day for her - just wondered if you knew of something else I could try to raise it in the entire cage. Maybe I should block off some airholes - but those were predrilled when I bought it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
