Re: What's your opinion? Spider Balls high or low white?
I'm going to be picking out a spider at the next show I go to, but I figure I'll just get the one that calls out to me. The color and pattern have to be considered too. I want a spider where color, pattern and amount of white all comes together just right. I think high white looks better on a spider with a less busy pattern, but if the spider has a busier pattern, or darker color, I prefer low white.

I read somewhere that womas at one point were referred to as the "poor man's spider".. I haven't seen any for sale recently so maybe that was many years ago, spiders do seem to have become widely bred so perhaps that description is no longer even close to accurate.

To me, spiders aren't so much about the amount of white, but about the amount of black. I prefer a spider with greatly reduced black. One that has kind of a barbed wire look going down the back with no black spots.

I so very much agree!
I LOVE our spider... reduced black with a super even light tan color that looks like ultra fine leather... no "messy" splotches (my opinion only of course). White goes almost halfway up but it fades gently into a little yellow to fade right into the tan for a very smooth transition. I don't know if he's low or high white - he looks like he is midway between the two. Here's a pic of him in October. Sorry, I don't have a good camera. I just used my cellphone.

We have a pastel too. I wasn't planning on any breeding at all - strictly personal pets - but I guess with this super pretty spider I'm obligated to get them to mate for a bumblebee. hah!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I've always loved Woma's but I definitely don't think they are the poor man's Spider anymore. I've been combing the web, and they seem to be running about $400!

Never mind Tonka, I want those! So, when you get tired of them, send them my way.
