most farms arent the nicest places in the world whether its snakes, turtles, crocs, pigs, cows, chickens, rodents, etc. if you want these farms to be all lovey dovey with the critters they raise, be prepared to pay 5x what you pay now due to the much higher expenses and wages.
its not practical to give animals the type of care you seem to think they should be getting.
I don't know how terrible conditons are in African BP farms, but I do not think it is 'impractical' to expect that animals raised in farms (& here I am referring to the chickens stuck in tiny compartments, the cows that are not able to turn around) be treated humanely. I, for one, am willing (& do) pay higher prices to purchase from establishments that treat their farm animals in a humane fashion.
No, they are not children. They are 'fricken' snakes. They are living, breathing creatures that have no say in the way they are cared for. I think it is owed to them to offer them the best possible care. The mentality that they are just 'fricken' snakes & should not receive the care they deserve is exactly what the reptile world needs less of.

Re: Large Orders Of Ball Pythons
my original post was to help me find ball pythons at a wholesale price from africa. To those of you who have helped and offered me the proper resources thank you very much. I have found a few breeders in Canada(where i am) who place large orders and have been for years. The orders are usually made in the spring and thats when i will be ordering them. Sorry that this thread got a little out of hand but those were not my intentions, I was just wondering if i could get some knowledgable help from some experts, not start an argument about python farms and the import/export trade. Obviously some people are against taking snakes out of the wild but they have to realize that the ball pythons they own came from the wild just like any other pet. Alot of breeders in Canada import WC ball pythons and they are the ones responsible for the amazing colour/patterned morphs you see out there now, there are probably even some wild pythons out there with genes or morphs we havent even seen yet. I dont know about you guys but when one of my females lays her eggs and the first little head that pokes out of those eggs makes me feel like a little kid on Christmas, now image ordering a large quantity of ball pythons from africa and finding some normals with crazy designs or even something new nobody has seen im sure that would be a great feeling aswell, but that is not the reason i want to order them. I am a breeder but I am just starting out(second season) and the last few weeks i have spent building a room for my pythons i currently own 12 ball pythons and my room is capable or housing 100-150 ball pythons depending on size, i also have a partner who helps me with the cleaning, feeding, and other maintenance. I'm not breeding to make money thats just a bonus, i have a huge love for ball pythons and other reptiles, to me spreading knowledge and getting more people into snakes and reptiles is what i like doing, i remember when i got my first ball python and how excited i was and to me giving that same feeling to others is the best thing in the world!!
i just hope that everyone who has posted in this thread and reads it realizes why they got into pythons in the first place. i also hope that the people who said they were against importing/exporting realize how silly they sound especially owning BP's themselves but thats why sites like reptilescanada.com and bp.net are around to help spread knowledge and to help eachother out and if your not willing to do that then maybe your in this for the wrong reasons.
thanks again to everyone who posted to help me out and to the ones who spread knowledge to the people who needed it!! HAPPY BREEDING SEASON EVERYONE AND BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!

Re: Large Orders Of Ball Pythons
I apologize that your thread was hijacked. I usually try to stay on track with posts, but I believed that one comment did warrant a response from me.
That being said, I am not against importing/exporting. After all, as you mentioned, if it weren't because BPs were imported we would not have any CB ones. I, personally, don't know if I am ready to take on the task of keeping WC, and I strongly urge anyone thinking of acquiring WC to purchase from reputable sources (here in U.S., I believe JnJ reptiles has a good reputation. I don't know much more than that, though), and to really do their homework.
Good luck with your search! I'm sorry I could not be of more help to you.

Re: Large Orders Of Ball Pythons
Hey man, I didn't read through the entire thread but Dustan out in Alberta sells CH bags. That is the one that comes to mind.
Just make sure you aren't expecting anything crazy, even "un-opened" bags have been picked through extensively by the Africans before shipment.
Finding something really cool is like winning the lottery.
