Question Looking for some feeding advice

I'm hoping somebody out there can help me decide if I need to feed my BP today or not. He has been in shed for over a week, and has been is his hide for over a week solid without coming out day or night, and I came home this afternoon and opened his hide to check on him and found a big piece of shed skin all tied up with moss. So I pulled the moss back to check for stuck shed and he balled up and hissed real loud at me, which he doesn't normally do....SO, my question is, Mondays are his feeding day and since it appears that he has finished his shed, should I go ahead and feed him?....Also, is the hissing at me a normal reaction, or should I be concerned about anything else?.....All advice is appreciated

The hissing is probably defensive because you scarred him. As for feeding, I feed my snakes once a week no matter what (a few extenuating circumstances may delay a feeding, but that is another topic altogether). Feed him, and if he doesn't want to eat, he'll make that decision on his own.

    Hope that helps,

Re: Looking for some feeding advice

All my snakes eat once a week. I give each one of them their food item and they have 15 minutes to eat. If that rat/mouse is still alive in 15 mins I pull it out and thats that. I try again next week. Go ahead and try to feed him, if he wants to eat he will.... if not try next Monday.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I offered him food and he ate in about 2 minutes, so obviously he was ready to eat. As far as the attitude, that still seems to linger, but I will be patient and hopefully he will get more comfortable.

Mine has never turned down a meal (well the one rat he passed on) even in the middle of shed
