Re: why did my ball change color?

Didn't the guy at PetSmart tell you that all their BP's change color as they get older. Dude told me mine would be Candy Apple Purple by the time he was 2 years old.

In my opinion this could be an "dark" Vanilla/Fire/Sulfur.

I think you may be on to something. The spot on the head is certainly lighter than normally. My Fire has a light spot on his head too.

Definitely interesting, and I'm going to vouch for poor camera and off white balance giving her a more than yellow appearance than most people are used to.

She does have nice blushing, and blushing seems to really get better with age, but it's not unheard of to have very light normals. Normals are highly variable, in truth you would never know unless you bred her. (if it's a her)

    What about her belly?
It's pretty darn clear, and would that belly button marking take her from being a clean belly morph?

In my opinion, it does not look like a pastel to me. It doesn't look like it has yellows, which reminds me of my reduced poss. het. hypo girl that looks very PEACH on the sides instead of normal yellows. Would that be a trait of vanilla, fire, etc..?

Normals have clean bellies too, so it really does not mean that much to me I guess.

Re: why did my ball change color?

No worries. I have a girl that is just now a yearling and the exact same thing happened, she got lighter and brighter, almost fire looking. I'll see if I can get some pics tomorrow, I attribute it to hormones as she gets through adolescence. Still a norm though, but fun to dink with.

    Cheers,
    Kat

Re: why did my ball change color?

i took a peek at belle today and she's in blue. i found my dads digital camera so there will be good pictures soon. to me she is looking darker, but i haven't gotten her out a whole lot lately so we will just see how the good pics look compared to the crappy ones.

she still looks extremely yellow to me. like banana yellow lol. i really don't think she's a pastel, just a truly gifted normal. she's my pride and joy and a really sweet girl. i love showing her off.

i found the thread about "glowing females" where they lighten up when they ovulate. it looks strangely similar to what happened to my girl. she didn't completely lighten up, it looks morel like she "yellowed" up or "sharpened" up. but when i got her she couldn't have been more than a couple months old and that was around easter. so i mark her at about a year +/-.

in the mean time i'll be sure to keep better documentation of her color changes, if there are any more.

    i'll keep ya posted!

what would be a good but affordable morph to breed her too, to try and prove out her pastel genes?
