I can see you love your snake (Corn & BP) very much. Yet they seem happy to stay with you as well. Nice photo and nice snake ~

My BP never shown me curling up, I like to take some photo when they are in this position. I have one pastel BP, I love him as you do ~

    Ahhh, much better!

I could have sworn there was a mouse there a few seconds ago...

And here's a picture from today, showing the removed shed skin. He still has retained eye caps, but with some luck he'll get them off in his next shed. If not, It's a trip to the herpetologist.
Your little buddy there is doing his buildup to his next shed.

When the eyes are blue like that most snakes are 7 to 10 days from their next shed.

They are not stuck eye caps, it's oil between the layers of his skin. It's normal for that to happen.

    Nice snakes.

You ball python has a pretty bad stuck shed. You should up his humidity to around 60 - 65% while in shed. After his next shed you should remove any stuck shed. You can do this by placing him in a Tupperware container with warm water for about 30 min to 1 hour. Make sure the water is not higher than halfway up his body. Place the container over his hot spot. After you remove him, the shed should just wipe right off.

    Hope this helps.

I clearly stated in my last thread that as soon as I named my BP I would make an official pic thread for both the BP and Flame. I also stated that if the mods felt the need to, they should lock/delete the other thread.

    Hi,

We don't really lock or delete threads all that much on here - it helps us to have all the good info available for searching later etc.

    Hey guys!

A big Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanza, or what holiday have you!

I would get Flame or The Beast in a festive costume, but I think I might get a few holiday "kisses" from them instead!

Re: The Beast, '07 BP and Flame, '07 Cornsnake Picture Thread

    Hey everyone!

I haven't been psting any pictures because I was on my Christmas vacation, but when I returned, I was happy to see that The Beast was in the final stage of shedding.

Tonight, right before I typed this, I used a damp paper towel to help the shed sking on his head get past his eyecaps, which, luckily, just came off as he crawled around his tank after this "operation". I snagged a pic to show how far I got it back manually, and while I am typing this he is working it back ever and ever slower. I also added a log hide to his enclosure, not as a hide (as log hides are very bad hides) but as something with a rough surface for him to use to help him shed.

I'm hoping he sheds it off by tomorrow so that I can feed him and get him back on his feeding schedule.

I am really excited, this will be the first time I will have ever seen him totally out of shed, as when I got him he still had stuck shed, and stuck eyecaps (yes they were stuck, he got them off by himself after a regiment of Repti-Shed [safe for the eyes] applied by Q-Tip).

An unsightly effect of his bad shedding was that wherever he would bend, he would have wrinkled, scraggly skin because of the stuck shed. I can't wait to see him totally fresh!

If that latest photo is what he looks like now, he has another stuck shed, and it's time for some intervention...

Yep. I helped him out on this one by removing some of the shed on his head, and if it isn't off by tomorrow he's going to soak.
