Vision Racks

Who has a Vision rack? what are your likes and dislikes? I'm really interested in the 11 high cb70 version.

I have one... and truthfully, I hate it. There a holes all over the dividers, so any dust and what not gets in with your snake. Its a pain to keep humidity and I can never seem to get the temps right on. It also doesnt seem that sturdy to me.... Maybe someone can come in with a better veiw on it.

The only down fall Ive seen is exactly what was just said. If you use aspen it seems like the dust settles in all the cracks below the tub and is a pain to get out. For the money and functionality it seems like a no brainer.

Ive been to Eugene Bessettes facility and he has switched over from Freedom Breeder to the Vision racks and loves them. I also know Graziani did the same and stands behind them. Not sure if this is maybe because he got an "endorsement" or not but seems like a 50/50 review on the Visions.

It's a different type of rack than what your normally used to. Open air racks are very different from closed racks. Open air racks are for rooms that are already temp controlled and provide semi adequate humidity. While closed racks are meant more for people who store a rack in a bedroom which is not temp controlled and can hold humidity and will have frequent temp changes.

Freedom Breeder and Vision racks are NOT meant to be put in your bedroom as they are open air racks they will not be very tolerant of temp changes and humidity problems, but some breeders find them to be much better in a controlled environment.

If you want a tolerant rack that will not give you many problems with temp changes and will hold humidity very well look for RBI racks AP racks or some other sort of closed rack system.

Wow, thanks everyone, that was a lot of helpful info. My new apartment, I use the second small bedroom as my snake room So it always has the right temps for the ambient room temperature which is nice, but the humidity is an issue; but just would need to get a humidifier if I got a vision.
I read on the vision website I believe or it might of been Vincent Russo's book about the vision racks and was said you can adjust the holes to control the humidity, I wonder if that is something new they are doing that was not an option to help with humity problems cause if so then you wouldn't have problems.

You can get different tops with the Freedom Breeders - from completely perforated to barely perforated. With the closed-in tops, I can keep the humidity in my Freedom Breeder the same as in my Boaphile racks.

Racks in general are not very tolerant of temperature changes as both belly and back heat do a poor job of heating the entire enclosure.

I keep my snake room between 77 and 79 degrees. With a 90 degree hotspot, my totally enclosed Boaphile racks will only get to 78 to 80 degrees on the cool end.

As for Vision racks - I tried them and didn't like them. As Bearded Dragon alluded to, I found them flimsy and poorly made. I also didn't like the heat cable arrangement and found out the hard way that most of my snakes hated being exposed on all four sides (duh).

In a CB70 size, there are a lot of good alternatives from Animal Plastics, Jason's Jungle, Reptile Basics, Boaphile, Repti-Racks, etc.
