    Re: Crested egg hatched!

I always remove the new hatchling from the incubator (of sorts) and put it in a small Kritter Keeper with paper towel bottom, a piece of silk plant and/or a small piece of cork bark (egg crate or tp tube works too).

It's not absolutely necessary to feed them for the first 3 - 7 days, as they are still absorbing egg and/or eating their sheds (which they will continue to do, into adulthood.. eat their shed, I mean). I begin offering Crested Gecko Diet on day 3 ..just because I like for my "kids" to have food available.

You should mist the enclosure 2x a day, at least, to maintain proper humidity... especially during Winter, as the heater can suck every little bit of moisture out of the air, quickly!

Good luck with your little one! It's a cute baby!

    Re: Crested egg hatched!

I give them a couple days to absorb the yoke in their stomach and get acclimated to their new surroundings. After that I teach them what food is by putting a drop on their nose. Eventually they will drink the gecko diet from the straw. After a couple hand feedings I put in a tiny food bowl and just keep an eye to see if they are eating from it. If not I keep up the hand feeding every night. They usually pick up eating on their own in the first week.
Make the food in thier bowl very thin so you can see if its being licked up.
Sometimes ill put them half in the food bowl just so they can see where its at.
