    anyone ever heard of this???

My friend has two ball pythons about 8 months old and a pair of budgies, recently the budgies laid an egg and my friend decided to put the egg in with the two snakes (what what reason i dont know) whom are siblings and kept together. But know the two snakes have taken a fancy to the egg and moved it inside one of there hides,,now they take turns guarding it and my friend cant put his hand near it to get it out as they are striking at him..... has anyone ever heard of this or understand why two snakes so young would guard an egg that is not theres...

I doubt they moved it purposely, pretty sure they could care less about the egg honestly! However, i think the snakes should be seperated to avoid stress related problems in the future. Maybe have your friend check out some caresheets on the forum here. Oh also give the budgies(- birds???) thier egg back

Re: anyone ever heard of this???

I don't see the point of doing it. I don't think any good can come of it. The BPs should be in separate enclosures of course.

But I also don't see how it's mean or sick to the snakes or the birds? Pointless or foolish seems like a good way to describe it. Mean and sick is a stretch.
