How to determine..

Last night my female decided to not eat for me, I'm not worried because she has done this before but my question is, how long do you wait until you decide the snake isn't going to eat?

Do you leave it in for a few hours? Do you wave the rodent in the snakes face(f/t), if it doesn't take you do w/e it is you do with a thawed out rodent? etc. I'm just looking for peoples different theories, and what they do for feeding day.

I have just read some threads about snakes refusing, with the colder months, especially here in Canada, (where yesterday was 10*c and 2 weeks ago was -22*c)I have come to expect after reading some threads.

I feed live so I usually wait 15 or 20 minutes for the snake to eat. If they haven't eaten in that time I take the rat out and wait until the next week to try again.

I agree....20 minutes.....try shutting off the lights next time so its dark. And feeding at night is usually beneficial. Make sure the rat is fed when introducing it to....then its less likely to bite based on hunger and only based on defense.

yeah def try feeding in the dark. i had a ball that would eat right out of the tongs and one day became a shy eater, and now will only eat in total darkness. i leave a p/k on the tank overnight with a blanket over the tank. it's always gone the next day.
