    What to do with babies?

If you're a first-time breeder, what are your options as far as selling your babies? Selling online and shipping them out seems difficult, so could anyone give me some other ideas?

(By the way; I don't have babies, I just am wondering what first-time breeders can do with their babies)

Re: What to do with babies?

This season I had several normal available and I sold them locally through www.kijiji.com and met the people interested in a public place.

As for the morphs (I did not produce many) but when I am ready to let them go they will be posted here/and or on my website.

Depending on how many you have a local show may be a good place to start as well.

I sell the normal males locally for a fraction of what the petstores charge as pets (this past season I sold normal males for $15 and they went fast).
Females and others get sold online.
It's not that hard to sell them as long as they are healthy, priced right, and established. Just be prepared to house and feed them for a few months before they sell.

I head to wallmart and get lots of boxes and good packing tape. Then i head to home depot and get some sheets of styrafoam insulation. Cut the insulation to boarder the inside of the boxes. Total cost is not really that much for the boxes. Only a few bucks per. Then i take a pen and poke a few holes for air. If you need heat packs get them online. Way cheaper. If you need some asap go to a hunting and fishing store.
If the snakes are small i put them in tupperware bowls (also from wallmart) with some damp paper towls and fill the box with balled up newspaper. Seal it up and ship it off.
I dont breed any normals but if i did i would just wholesale them off to petstores or use craigs list for local sales. Some petstores will buy from you but they will most likely want to come see your breeding area so make sure its clean. Most pet stores will tell you to get lost unless you can keep them in a constant supple hehe. Greedy bastages.

One thing i forgot to add. Make sure you have loads of mice/rats on hand. You might not be able to sell them for a while and you will run out of food quick.
I buy them online frozen by the hundreds every few weeks. I have a few redtailed boas and when they pop the hatchlings are eating machines.
Or if you cant afford to buy millions of rats/mice breed your own. Its not that hard and will save you lots of money in the long run.

I produced 14 this year... held back 6 and sold the rest on kijiji as well. All but 2 that is.

Same deal, met in a public place for delivery. Sold 3 normals and 3 morphs without too much difficulty.
