More good things!
I had a post a while back about some good things happening in my life. The possibility of a new job, my dog finally getting the hang of housetraining (kind of) ect.
Well we started talking to my mother in law. My husband and I are just so sick of living where we are and we want to start renting a house. The only problem is living here while saving up for a security deposit and first months rent. Not to mention the reletting fee the apartments will charge for us leaving the lease early. So we asked her about us moving back in with her and much to our surprise, she was in full support of the idea. She said she'd really like it if we moved back in. We could rent out two of the bedrooms, one for the animals, one for us and she wouldn't mind all of our animals (except we'd have to stop breeding our own feeder rodents and sell off our colony. All except two males we want to keep as pets). We'd be closer to work and where we do our grocery shopping and we'd have a chance to start saving for a place of our own. We will be talking in more detail soon about this but depending on how long she allows us to stay, we could even save for a down payment on a house.
I'm just so excited about this. Still no word on the job though, but we shall see.

Re: More good things!
Trust me, I know.
One thing I don't know how to do is terminate the lease. Lets say we move in to my mother in law's house the middle of January. We pay the rent on January 1st. Tell them we want to move out. Is the next month when the lease is terminated and we pay the reletting fee as February's rent? And we have to be moved out by the end of January? Is that how it works? We would like 2 weeks to a month to get moved out and get this apartment back to exactly the way it was when we moved in (shampoo carpets due to roommate's pet damage, paint all walls white, clean every nook and cranny, ect) So how would this need to be done?

Hm. The only real experience I have with property management, is wherein the tenants left us messes to clean up! Now, being a former and current tenant and renter though, I would ask the LL how they want you to go about cleaning. They might want to show the apartment in the beginning of Feb; or they may plan on cleaning it that month.. it is hard to tell.
I hate renting! I love where we live, but we are paying our LL's danged mortgage payment. I can't wait to buy a house in a few years, so I feel ya there!
