males in with new females
Hello all. This is my first post here on bp.net. I've been lurking on here for quite some time learning as much as I can. I have a question on breeding as this is my first year breeding.
I have a few co-dom males that have "designated" females. I have been following the 3 day in and 4 days out rule since October and it has worked fantastic up until about the beginning of the month. It seems like a couple of the males simply aren't interested in their "set" of females anymore. Now I just experimented last night with the rotations. I simply put one male (who wasn't doing anything with his set of females) in with another male's "designated" female. I woke up this morning and they are locked (they are still locked as of 5pm). Has anyone else experienced this before?
thanks
Jordan

Yes.
Males will pursue a female more when the scent of another male is present.
Think of it this way. A child may not want to play with a specific toy, but if another child picks it up they are all over it.

To follow on that - if you want him to pair with his designated females, try putting the sperm plug of another male on the back of those females. Or try putting him in with two females at the same time.

Yeah I saw that sperm plug trick on one of Ralph's videos. I didnt know if it really works, or if he was just joking with that. Since they're all co-dom, i'll just mix the males up then. I do have one het lavendar albino that has his designated girls and he will be the only one that gets to see them. Hmmm..two females at the same time, I guess snakes and people aren't that different after all.

He wasn't joking - it's a breeder trick that worked for me last year.
