Need some advice again!!!
Hi, I just got my first baby BP! Before him I have had 2 Boas.
He seems to be less active than the Boas, he spends a lot of time in his "hiding place". I have had him in his 40 gallon tank for 4 days allready with out taking him out... he seems to be ok with his new home, I keep temperature and humidity at the right rage all the time. He cruises arround at around 3:00am and goes back to his cave like half hour after that. He is not showing any signs of stress so far (I think)... I am wondering if its ok to take him out of his tank now and handle him for a while in my room or if I should wait until a week goes by?
By the way I just joined this web site, and I think is great! Is nice to have places like this, with people like you, for nubies like me! I apreciate all your help!!
Thanks for your time,
Adrian

BPs are nocturnal. If he is in his hide during the day and cruising at 3am then you are doing something right. Cruising during the day and trying to hide in places other than his hides are signs of stress. Yes...wait the full week before handleing.

Re: Need some advice again!!!
Boas and balls are VERY different
Most people suggest waiting a full week or two before handling, and some suggest waiting until they have eaten a couple of times before handling the snake. Mostly it depends on the individual snake and so only you can make that call. I suppose, were it me, I would wait a good week prior to handling.
A 40g tank is pretty big for a ball python, but yours sounds to be handling it well- again, depends on the snake! is your snake just a wee thing or do you have an older snake? This might make a difference as well

Yes I can see that BP's are very different from Boas, I think I like them, they are more laid back!! I have seen her cruise arround 2 times in 4 days, both of them at arround 3:00am. I think he (Seranti) is handling his "big" home pretty well. Yes, Seranti is the only snake I have right now... I can not wait for this week to go by!!
