    Still Nothing?

Another question coming from someone who knows nothing about the topic experience wise. I fed my little BP on Wednesday of last week. She had been a little stressed from her move into the home and all, so when I fed her it was one pinkie mouse, which I was told she typically gets two. But since she had been stressed out I only gave her one which she took without any fuss at all.

My concern comes in where she has yet to leave me any droppings. Her cage is still completely free of it... She is supposed to eat again on this coming Wednesday... But should I still feed her if she has yet to produce any droppings?

sometimes snakes take a little while to process their food completely Nothing to worry about if you only got the snake last wednesday.

I don't know if a stressed snake will take longer to poop, but when I first got mine, she waited a good two and a half weeks. Now it's usually every week or so.

    Re: Still Nothing?

By all means, feed her again! No BP, not even a newly hatched one, should be getting pinkies unless they are seriously malnourished. Hatchlings can handle hopper mice from the start.

As soon as possible, get that snake on one properly sized prey item every 5 days until they reach 100-200grams, then go up to every 7 days. Properly sized is usually measured by giving them prey that is the same size around as the snake is at its widest body point. This means that if the snake is about 1" wide in the middle, the mouse or rat should also be about 1" wide.
Generally, hatchling Ball pythons take hoppers or small adult mice, juveniles take medium to large adult mice, and over that it's either rats or multiple adult mice.

Oh, and as far as the poop thing goes... BPs can go weeks without it, especially if the prey they get is small. Don't be surprised if, even when an adult, your snake doesn't poo for a while.

    Re: Still Nothing?

Well that doesn't surprise me. When I originally got her she was from a large chain store. They gave me suggestions and told me that she would receive two pinkies each time she ate. Even being entirely new to caring for them I had my doubts being as the pinkies were incredible small. I will up her dosage and get her on the proper food.

    Thanks again
