Re: why did my ball change color?
I purchased a WC tiger line recently that looked pastel at birth, but matured into a caramel coloured snake... saw the pics and would not have believed it was even the same snake.
Could be some mix, or random genetics going on in this girl.

Re: why did my ball change color?
i dont have an answer myself but looks liek one beautiful pastel to me by the markings and blushing. almost looked like she tried to turn into a super the way the back and head blushing has changed so much. shes not a super but i would have to say she is a pastel although if you look at the area of the belly shown in the pic she does have some black on her belly.

Re: why did my ball change color?
There are a lot of reasons snakes change colors from mineral deficiencies to hormones - it's rarely permanent and not genetic. But she looks very nice.

the only black on her belly is right here ON her belly button which truly confuses me:
you'r right, when i first got this snake her eyes were pitch black, i could not tell where the pupil was. her eyes are now brown and i can definately tell her pupil from her iris.
i went back to petsmart last night to see what color the normals eyes were. the baby i picked up had dark brown eyes. which thouroughly confused me. this snake has question marks all over it.
this is a less flattering picture, but i want everyone to get all angles of her till i can find my sisters digital camera. the shadow on the left makes her look a little darker on that side. i couldn't get the paper to stay on the light.

Could be some sort of fire / sulfur / vanilla / on any other name they are calling them now. I do not know very much about them, but I do know that they get lighter with age. You could breed her to try to see if it is an inheritable trait. You could also breed her to a fire / sulfer… to see if you produce a black-eyed lucy. Either way, she is a beautiful snake.
