Is it OK to house a BP in the same cage for life? If I bought one of the RBI 3x2 cages could I raise a BP from a baby to adulthood? I read that you don't need a large cage when they are young, but if I filled it with hides, plants, climbing branches etc. would this work? Has anyone had any luck doing this?

Some people do, but I think that a good number of the experienced people on this website each have many many BPs, and as a result have many cages/tubs of different sizes.

One thing you can do to make it easy on you is if you have a cage that is a little bigger than you want, put in some kind of seperater to temporarily make it a "smaller" cage

It's not that you "don't need" a bigger cage when they're young. Too-big cages scare babies. BPs are very shy and stress easily. A larger cage will frighten them.

I would also add a divider to make the large cage smaller. I have tried putting a young BP into a larger cage stuffed with greenery and hides, but she still hated it (read wouldn't eat and wouldn't come out for her normal nightly cruises).

It is best to give them enclosures that fit their size, and most people put them in cheap tubs while they're small, then get a really nice display cage for them when they're big enough.
