Thermostats

Should I go with the Johnson, Ranco, or another thermostat? I'm looking at the two pre-wired ones.

And does the temperature need to be kept at 88-95 degrees on one side throughout the day and night?

I use a Herpstat from Spyder Robotics, it works great but I have also heard Helix works good too. As for temps try to keep them constant.

I have 6 johnson controls from RBI, they are the pre wired ones. They work great.

I use the Newtek prewired. Lots cheaper then the others and works great.

I used Herpstats first, then Rancos.

I love them both. Had nothing but problems with Helix.

I use Helix and Herpstat. Both are reliable and without issue

i use herpstats with a ranco backup(its noisy but i know when its working)

I haven't had any issues with my Ranco so far. You'll hear the relays click over once in awhile if you're in the room, but I wouldn't really call it noisy.

I use the Rancos and they work well, but I have heard both the Ranco and Johnson t-stats are equally as good. The Helix and Herpstat t-stats are more expensive beacuse they are "gradual" thermostats and are a bit more accurate. Eventually I want to upgrade to a Herpstat.

Missed that second question - I'd say most people DON'T drop temperatures at night. I personally keep my temperatures constant day and night and have had no problems.
