Re: tegus?
yeah they are probably my favorite of them all, so they can be tamed pretty easily, and they are probably the smallest of the three right?

Re: tegus?
I have tegus, and I really like them a lot. I have Argentine Black and White, and Argentine Reds.. and currantly and temporaily, a blue tegu.
I highly reccomend tegus myself, all the other lizards I've seen/owned, the tegus are the most responsive IMO. My reds are super tame and sweet and seem to enjoy interacting with me. Argentines B&Ws I've seen a lot that seem to love their owners and follow them about begging for attention.

Re: tegus?
It depends on where and which you get. I know one person just had blue tegu hatchlings for sale for $300 each. My hybrid babies went for about $175 I believe(I did not sell them directly). I've seen Arg. B&W babies for sale for around $100 each. Reds can run around $200. All prices are from my somewhat faulty memory.
You do want to be CERTAIN you are getting a Captive bred one. And be certain you do not get a Columbian, or a gold tegu. Those are much more likely to not tame down(although I know folks who say they have one that is tame, all the rest I've seen or heard of were wild little buggers that loved to bite).

If you don't own a house with a backyard, do not get a rhino.

Nile monitor.
Never experienced a nice one that was over a foot in length. The babies will put up with you for a short period of time. Then the biting will start.
