lighting?
as we all know most breeders use some type shelving system where it's unable to give any remarkable type of light whereas most care sheets i've stumbled on reccomend some type or another of lighting. i am a collector of many years and haven't had so many balls that i couldn;t provide a classic tank, heat, lighting setup for each one but am considering a larger scale possibly breeding and am wondering if the snakes are missing out on much in the shelving system? thanks!@

Re: lighting?
BPs don't require any sort of UV lighting to be healthy. Some breeders incorporate lighting into their breeding routine but they are not required for the health of the animal on a day to day basis.

Re: lighting?
Ball pythons are mainly nocturnal animals who spend most of their lives in termite and rodent burrows in the wild. So, no they do not require any supplemental lighting. Right now in my room I have one light that I keep on a timer 12 on 12 off just to keep some sort of general day/night cycle for the snakes and the rats that I have in there also.
