My BP doesn't like to hide. is that weird?

I have a BP his about 2'. He eats very well and seems to feel very comfortable but he hates to hide! I have tryed every types and put hides over his hotspot and he just wont go in it. All temps and humidity are great. He likes to dig in his aspen more then hideing. The only place he likes to hide is in my blankets on my bed. Should I worry that he doesn't like to hide?

hahaha I just picked up my second Ball on sunday at the White Plains show, and I'm expiercing the same thing lol. I have had a normal female for about 3 months now, and she loves her hides. This guy could careless haha, i even picked up and he went into ball position so I put him right under his hide on the warm side, but 2 hours later hes out again. Also, I tried putting my baby in a 28QT and a lot of people told me this was too big, so make sure the enclosure is not too large because this seems to freak them out a bit.

My 2' BP is in a 30 gallon tank, it may be big but i have alot of stuff in it...two hides and big climbing thing which he loves, i was shocked how much he loves to climb, and i have a very large water bowl which takes up 1/4 on the tank.

    It depends

If you just acquired the animal he can still be exploring, also depending on your setup yes he might be normal (I have BP that never hides) but than again it depends on the setup and knowing your animal.

Generally they will hide especially if house in a glass tank.

The first thing you need to figure out is if whether or not the hides are tight enough (all side touching your BP’s body), if they are not or if you are using log hides your BP might not feel secure enough, which is why he is not using his hides.

I have tryed log hides, plastic hides, and ceramic hides. He looks into the hide but doesn't go in. He passes through the log hide but doesn't stay in it. He loves climbing all over this hides

actually now that you mention it, when I had my snake in an aquarium she didn't seem to like it to much. She was constantly moving around laying on top of her hides and such, she just seemed very anxious and nervous. I looked online and saw the sterilite bin set ups that people were using, put her in a 28QT with all the proper heating and shes been hiding ever since lol. I don't know maybe your snake just likes hang out out side.

Mine will curl up in his hides with his head sticking out or his neck resting on a rock outside the warm hide.

Are you reading your temps from inside or outside the hide? Hide box's tend to act like little insulators so it may be too hot in there for your BP.

Some BPs really get into tunneling! One thing you can try is using CareFresh for bedding for this little guy instead of the aspen - just make it deeper on one side (whichever side he seems to prefer) and watch him dig in! He'll make his own hide - all soft and cozy under there! Good luck, and enjoy!
