Re: Possible tattoo - need ideas

First true loves are the hardest to get over. It took me years to fully heal from mine.

    Mike, show some respect.

For the record, Andrew... I am not suggesting that you are a Psycho stalker... or anything else negative for that mattter... I am only pointing out what you are making yourself look like! come back to this thread in about a year.... and see who you agree with then!

    Cheers!
It certainly sounded like you were questioning the sanity of his statement about God having a plan...AND you're assuming he has "psycho-stalking whack-job intentions". All I was trying to say is that it doesn't sound like that at all, unless that's the sort of thing you WANT to read into it.

He didn't say he was trying to stay in touch with her or trying to follow her anywhere. He didn't run out and buy a ring after she broke up with him. He didn't say he wanted her portrait inked across his back, or even her initials hidden in some design. He wanted something to REMIND him of the sweetness of first love...and of the lessons he's learned and is still learning from the pain he's going through....as well as something that represents his faith that God has a better plan for his life.

Where the heck do you get psycho-stalking-whack-job from that? Sheeesh.

Needless to say I have been a little distraught and just been tring to keep up with school and the animals. The thought of getting a tattoo has crossed my mind recently. Something that says or symbolizes remembrance. I want to remember the happiness, my first love, my mistakes, and my faith that God has a plan for us. I want something small and probably in a place that I could cover up easily for interviews and such. Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and love.
I have two tats. My advice echos some of the other on the board, don't do it right now. I think the first is the hardest. Give yourself time to think of or find a design you like, meaning aside. Then think about it for at least another 6 months. Then if you still are up for it then do it. Tats really aren't the biggest deal in the world IMO, but just don't do it when you're emotionally charged, like now, and end up doing something you don't like.

If you want to get something religious-inspired, you could get a small triquetra (trinity knot) or something like that. It was my first. If you want something journey related, maybe a nautical star.

Just think about it is all.

Here is an answer.. Imagine this.

So You started dating this guy.... went with him for a while, but he was totally clueless. You were very unhappy in the relationship and gave him lots of hints that you were miserable, but he didn't pay attention. All the way up to the end he probably had no idea just how unhappy you were. In fact, he probably thought everything was going wonderfuly.

Towards the end you did not like him at ALL romanticly. You actually stopped liking him that way a while ago, and just brough yourself to the point of dumping him even though you knew it was going to break his heart. You dump him. No surprise to you, he doesnt take it very well at all because he completely ignored all your hints, and really did believe everything was going wonderfly in the relationship.I t was a total surprise to him!!!

Then you find out that he is posting about the relationship on a web forum... His thread on the snake forum says that he loves you, his first love, and believes god has a plan for the two of you... that has already bought a ring for you. He explains that he is thinking about getting a tattoo in rememberence of you... something that says or symbolizes remembrance. He want to remember the happiness, his first love, his mistakes.

Yes Judy, this can easily be seen as psycho stalker type behavior. What would you think if the story above happened to you? would you be flattered or scared? Nevermind.

My origional reply to him should have been a PM. Maybe it is a guy thing.

How are you going to explain to your future wife a tattoo that signifies an ex girlfriend? Remembrance tattoos are for the deceased, not ex girlfriends

I have 7 tats, and the best time to get one is when you want one.

My suggestion, hock the ring, head to the tattoo place, pick one you like, have it done, then head to the nearest strip club and show it off!

I don't think they come much more cynical than me.

Even I didn't read this guy as bemoaning his fate hoping to catch a glimpse of her shadow on a building as he drives past for the 30th time that day.

vana, just because it went that way for you doesn't mean it has to for everyone.

LilIndianWench, you're what, 17? Good head on those little white shoulders.

As for the rest of the comments, guys, did you actually read what he wrote or did you react to what you read?

I got no bad vibes from this guy at all. Introspection, faith, hope, sadness and determination to learn and remember and respect.

How did I get there if you all didn't?

Summa y'all needs to do some introspectionalizationing.

Re: Possible tattoo - need ideas

Getting a tattoo to symbolize happiness and mistakes and faith in God is one thing, if it about all those things as a whole. Getting a tattoo that symbolizes the happiness and mistakes in a single relationship and how God got you through a breakup is another. I'm not sure which he's going for, but my advice is to be smart about it. Getting a cross that says "remember" is a good idea, granted it's not simply meaning "remember the ex-gf." If it means "remember everything in life that God has helped you through," then that's a great idea.

Just remember that tattoos are forever and in 30 years you'll still get asked what the tattoo symbolizes and you better like the answer in 30 years as much as you like the answer in 30 days
