Re: Twilight (the movie)
The movie moved to fast and jumped around a lot. I think the special effects could have been a bit better and I wish they would have followed the book a bit more. It was a good movie, but not at all what I was expecting. It could have been way better. Even so, I will see the other three when they come out.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
I have not seen this movie, nor will I see this movie. I just don't know how a tweener vampire movie can be a good movie...
My thought on the whole thing is this: If you don't sit around all day watching Hannah Montana while listening to the Jonas Brothers, then you won't like this movie.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
I hate Hannah Montana and don't listen to the Jonas brothers, but I liked the movie enough.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
Movies like this do not hold up to film scrutiny... they are geared to tween girls and obviously they have been very successful in that.
I haven`t seen it, but my 13 year old niece has and GUSHES!!!
Tweeners are already learning the lines and making it a participatory event, enough reason for me to not go see it.
But `Victoria` is from Montreal, so I think everyone in the city is obligated to go see it. We`re a loyal breed.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
read the book, will not see the movie. as suspected, movies made from books never hold up against the books so I generally will not see the movies if I've read the books. the only exception to this was the lord of the rings trilogy.. as close to the books as a movie has ever gotten.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
i thought the movie was different, not bad but not great either. I think that for a movie like Twilight and even Harry Potter, it is hard to make because everyone has their own ideas on how the characters look and how they go about doing what they do. Certainly this fist movie was a bit disappointing, but there are three more books, and from wat we've seen before, directors usually learn from their mistakes.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
The movie is definitely geared solely towards people who loved the books. A lot of things that I considered vital to the story were never mentioned in the movie, which left me with the impression that the only purpose of it was to show the love story between Bella and Edward.
I didn't like the actor pick for Edward before seeing it, but I think he did a wonderful job, so now I'm all for him.
I'm looking forward to the next one, as I was rooting for Jacob in the second book. It took until the 4th book for me to even like Edward much again.
And yes, I agree, the movie is aimed at the tweens, but those of us who love the story can look past that, I think.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
Buffy was wayyyyyyy better.
But I have certainly seen worse movies and movies that were even further from their written origins.
My daughter liked the movie, loved the books and IS the target audience.
If you can get a few million teens to pony up 10 bucks to see your flick, you're successful.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
Just read the book last night (more from a desire to see what all the hype was about than a real interest) and it was good enough. Mindless, teenager romance vampire fluff, but readable. I'll probably read the other three in hopes that the werewolves come into play a bit more. Haven't seen the movie yet, as I'm usually very dissapointed in movie/book adaptations. Like Ladydragon said, LOTR was the closest anyone's come to getting it right. Which is why I'm quite happy that Peter Jackson optioned the rights for my favorites series (the Temeraire books).
Anyway, yea. Doubt the movie will be any good, as they usually dumb it down for cinema and the book wasn't exactly a brainbuster to begin with.

Re: Twilight (the movie)
I havent seen the movie, nor read the book. Eventually I would like to read the series, if of course the first book is interesting to me. And I'll probably see the movie after I watch The Changeling, dont have much of any else better to do.
