    gross gross gross!

    My snake has mites!!

This is the same hatchling that had the RI infection a couple weeks ago. I was waiting for the vet office to call me for the fecal sample results, but apparently they lost my number when I spoke to them today. The actual veterinarian said she'd call today, but I haven't heard from them yet. And tonight I just saw a little black dot running around so it's confirmed we have a problem!

Alright....time to attack the mites.......any additional advice?

Soak the snake and PAM the cage...alot. Then make sure it's dry before putting the snake back in. Might want to PAM the room as well. I really hate mites.

    Hi,

Provent a Mite (PAM ) - follow the instructions exactly though.

Until you manage to get it, if she has a lot on her, then soak in warm (85F approx) water with a spot of dish soap to break the surface tension and drown the beggars.

Remember not to make the water too deep to prevent accidents.

Good luck getting the little blighters eradicated as quickly as possible.

    Re: gross gross gross!

Well I just spent a couple hours cleaning everything. The snake doesn't really have many at all, in fact I can't find anymore other than that one and her scales look perfect. Nonetheless, the wood was baked, everything else bleached and now sitting out in the snow (thought the extra freezing wouldn't hurt ).

It's 1 am now...stores are closed and I won't be able to get any real mite/lice killer until tomorrow. I would like to order PAM, but first I need to see if they ship to Canada. Other than that, I heard equate bedding spray works well? Not sure if they sell that here either...but here's to hoping I can kill everything(other than poor snakey) soon!

No, you need PAM, Equate is not tested on reptiles.
I'm pretty sure they do ship to Canada, I remember a Canadian on here had some.

You need to treat with PAM! Until the PAM arrives or you can get some keep your snake clean of all mites. Remember even if you don't see any mites there are still the eggs....PAM kills the mites and the eggs. Go ahead and get two cans for backup. Also it works real good on black widows and hornets.
