I agree with this right here. I have never been in a situation like that, but I would review my lease thoroughly to make sure maintenance is provided, then demand it to be fixed or you will not pay rent. I've had a friend do that and seen the problem get fixed within the day, so there is still hope for you cooking thanksgiving dinner.
