    Question about my pastel.

I just purchased this pastel (or so he said) at an expo, I looked around on the net and mine seems to be a lot darker than others. I think it might be the fact that I have been bumming myself out about it and thinking it's a lot darker.. I dunno I been a little stressed about it so I decided since I know very little about BP coloration I'd ask someone here. It was marked as a pastel ($95) and the guy seemed like he knew a lot and had a ton of other morphs.

My question is, is this a pastel that is just darker or is it a lighter normal? He said it was bred from a pastel and a normal.

    Re: Question about my pastel.

It looks like a darker pastel. Check the color of his eyes. If they're are green its a pastel but if they're not its a normal.

    Re: Question about my pastel.

His eyes are someone greenish but they don't like stand out like a really bright green. Almost like a really dark shade of green. My opinion is kinda odd though since I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. I'll get some family members opinions on what color they think they are. Any other ways to tell a pastel from a normal?

    Re: Question about my pastel.

He's a pastel. On a graded scale, he'd be considered a low to mid grade. Orange on pastels will turn brown into adulthood. However, no matter what grade he is - if you love him, that's all that really matters in the end!

Here's a link to help you with identifying pastels.

Try taking a look at this thread

    Edit:
I was slow at finding the link, but both mine and rabernet's are the same thing.

I hope they help you out.

    Re: Question about my pastel.

Yeah he's awesome and pretty active, I did read just a minute ago that they get brighter as they shed? He's pretty small so maybe that's it.

Here's the thing I wouldn't worrie about the grade it's how healthy and active your animal is. Has he shed already for you? How old is he? After shed he should get brighter.

Here's my 3 year old pastel male.

    Re: Question about my pastel.

Those are horrible pictures I posted, I picked him up at an event yesterday. I was extremely sick, I knew what I was going in for and picked him up, the pictures definitely do not do justice. Since I was sick I never took a good look at him in the sunlight. I took him out today and wow he is extremely bright on his sides, and very pale on his back, I couldn't tell since the lights in my house are all a yellowish tint. I will have to get some better quality pictures up for everyone to see, those were taken in a hurry with auto focus and ish.

    I appreciate all the help.
