    Re: deer hunting thread!

I hunted this whole weekend. On opening day if I am not hunting there is a major problem with the force. I shot this buck this weekend. He is not my best but one of them so he is getting mounted. My office is filling up with deer heads and my wife doesn't like it! I still can't believe that I tagged him with a .300 Win Mag and he ran 60 yards and then died. People don't realize how tough they really are. This picture is for you BOA.

i hunt alot of animals. weather has been messed up this year and other farms havent picked their corn yet, so there is just too much food for the deer to eat still . i havent got anything yet but im sure ill have a few before the season ends.

    p.s. i have a lifetime license

    Re: deer hunting thread!

Both my aunt and uncle hunt. After all their tags have been used, the neighbors who have extra or have yet to land a deer get my uncle to to so for them. They rarely ever have to buy beef. I watched my uncle choke down a filet minion once LOL. Never hunted myself, but everyone arround does, love fresh food from the land/water be it meet, seafood or veggies! Good luck hunting.

    Re: deer hunting thread!

Thanks guys. I have been shooting deer since I was 12 so it has been 20 years now. I only shoot the dominant buck on my farm each year. The rest live to grow old and make more great bucks. It is weird how hunting gets into your blood. I watched this buck for over 40 minutes and he kicked 7 other bucks butt while I was watching. It was great. I told my dad I have to a recorder next time on our hunt.

I shot one with a .308 and it went from standing to laying down, all depends on where the shot lands. I have to work opening weekend but i get to hunt monday and tuesday. I hope there are enough hunters left to make the deer move around a little more.

Sounds like awesome deer-herd management It always upsets me when people come out here and just shoot at anything that moves. There were many bucks taken that were small guys; I wonder what potential they would have had. Granted, I hold nothing against people who get smaller bucks, but it is nice to know that someone out there shares my personal views of deer-herd management
    Nice buck by the way!

    Re: deer hunting thread!

Went out with my stepdad and sat a few more times the past couple of days. Still nothing big enough to take. So since I couldn't give you guys any pictures of big bucks I just took some of the camp. I love living in the U.P.!

    Overview (camp and sauna)

    The river

You realize just how much you take modern luxuries for granted when you have to take care of business in one of these when it's 5 degrees outside!

A few of the bigger racks taken at the camp over the years.

This little baby heats the whole camp. Can't beat cast iron, stays hot all night long!

My stepdad took this black bear a few years back. Weighed in at about 450 pounds.

Coyote was taken by my stepdad. Beaver was trapped by a friend after it kept flooding the camp road by damming a little creak nearby.

I might be able to get out hunting a few more times so there's still hope of bringing home some nice buck pics. Wish us luck!
