Re: The herp community may be in trouble
I try not to get too upset about these things for a couple reasons.
1. A vast majority of reptiles keepers, such as this online community right here, don't post videos of animal cruelty for the world to see. We love animals, and do the best we can by them.
2. Most of us respect our feeders just as much as we respect our animals that we are feeding them to. We treat them like living creatures, with care, love, food, and they have a great quality of life.
3. Snakes.. they must eat. Rather it be live, or f/t thawed, it is part of nature and something we as humans cannot change but must respect.
4. Sadly there are people that do post videos of such things. However, I am out to set an example of how these animals should be treated, I refuse to let a handful of people (give or take) represent our reptile community in which we love so much. We as a whole need to show the world what the reptile community is really about.
5. Most of the people with those websites and "ideas" are extremists. They are dieing for the attention we give them. They want people to get angry, they want a reaction. By not giving them that, they start to lose their ammunition.
Also, I did read about the article that was printed. I also don't believe everything I read in the paper. Its the media. Who also wants reaction!

IDK, the Rabit in the background lookeed pretty tasty! jk, there will always be the rodent lovers that think we are evil and not know we treat our rodents right before they are fed off, yet as soon as they see a wild one in their home do you see them wanting to coexist or do they set out traps? See where im going... These people just dont understand that a snakes got to eat!

Re: The herp community may be in trouble
People need to remember that their fluffy kitties and puppies also eat OTHER ANIMALS. Their kibble is ground up ANIMALS. Snakes are merely more honest in their meal.
I don't think that a youtube video is much to worry about. There's way worse, and getting into a argument on youtube over a video opinion just isn't worth it.

Hahaha that kinda made me laugh a bit.
Ohh well, I guess I'm just a brutal and dangerous savage because I keep snakes and feed them their required diet.
