what should i do when he/she grabs the mouse by the side and wont let go? s/he has been holding it for about an hour now by the side, and wont let go to go head first. what should i do, just let it sit there with the mouse? it was a thawed mouse, so it isnt like it was alive and needed to be killed, stupid snake LOL

what should i do?

just leave it, the snake will figure it out eventually.

I'm not sure when you fed her but if the snake hasn't eaten the mouse by morning I'd suggest throwing it out. There's lots of things in their gut to go bad and you don't want your snake eating a funky mouse. But if he/she is still latched on in the morning I have no suggestions on how to get her off.

let the snake figure it out on its own, also dont hover and watch, sometimes that scares them off the food.

Is this your first feeding? snakes will kill or attempt to kill all there food, its in their nature not to eat anything until its dead, even if its prekilled they dont know that. They will hold on as long as it takes til they think its dead. something you should try is once your snake has taken the food and constricted it, pull on the tail slightly a couple times, this will mimick the mouse trying to escape and make the snake think its actually killing its prey.

I disagree. Keep your hands out of the enclosure unless you want to get bit. Your snake will figure it out, Ive seen my bp swallow the tail first and get stuck with both legs hanging out of his mouth, clearly not going to fit. He managed to spit it out and start at the head eventually. I know it tough to watch, so don't. Let him work it out

i only suggest this while your snake has taken the prey and has begun constricting. I do this with my snakes feeding thawed and have never been struck, the snake is to busy trying to kill its prey. you only give a few slight tugs then leave them be.

Yeah I've pulled on the tail a couple times after they constricted to stimulate them... It's totally fine... maybe you should try it and make sure they didn't fall asleep half eating haha...

I feed with hemostats (for mine who take f/t) and when they hit the prey I will pull back gently a couple of times, but I have never pulled on the prey after they have constricted...

well my snakes are pretty fast, by the time they hit the prey and i try i pull back a little they already have it coiled up.
