Live Mice to Frozen? Need Advice
I need a way to switch my ball python from live mice over to frozen mice? I searched but i could not find what I was looking for. The pet store in town recently went out of business and I need to start feeding my snake frozen mice or rats if possible. I have to drive 45 miles to the nearest pet store now. I have tried getting her to eat them, but she doesn't really like the idea and will not eat them. Could some one give me some advice on switching her over to frozen?
(I do let them thaw out and get them close to the normal body temperature before I try to feed them)

Re: Live Mice to Frozen? Need Advice
some people will say they heat theirs(dead rodents) up with a blow dryer.
others will say chicken broth can do the trick..
and finally some will might say tough love?
I'm currently getting ready to go to frozen thawed myself. Haven't tried just yet though.

Re: Live Mice to Frozen? Need Advice
There's the possibility that your snake will never switch from live to F/T. Have you considered what you would do if you can't make it switch? Are you able to breed your own rodents?
You can leave the F/T in the enclosure over night, I tried tough love but it didn't work for me. Make sure the rodent is warm enough and prescent the room for 20 minutes before hand.
You can pre-scent by letting the mouse warm up in the room under a heat lamp.

I'm assuming you've tried to dangle the rodent, in some way or another.... but if you haven't....that might help trigger a first strike?

Tough love never worked for my hypo girl.
Rolling the rat in mouse bedding did not work either.
Chicken juice and tuna juice? No.
Braining? Ewwww, forget it!!
She is just a mouser!
Maybe being a rodent farmer is in your future....
