Our little weekend away (Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle)

Living it up in the lap of luxury for the wifes thirtieth birthday. Beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings and courteous, pleasant folk with fine food and drink to accompany the most idyllic of weekends. Spent plenty of money but in no way felt short changed.

If you ever find yourself in Northern Ireland, the Mourne Mountains is one place you definitely have to visit and explore

Some pics of the hotel and surrounding views

    Our room and view

And this was the promenade this morning before we set off for home again. Weather was beautiful with a nice brisk breeze!

Monument to Percy French with the lyrics of The Mountains of Mourne, on either side of the good man himself.

All this and more is only an hour and a half drive away from my hometown. It doesn't get much better

Looks like a good place to explore! I like the sculptures with the mirror surfaces... they'd make fore some killer photos!

It's an amazing place to explore! It's just a pity we didn't have more time to explore and get even more photo's taken.

We took a walk through one of the forest parks (Tullymore) I'm going to create another thread of our forest stroll. Got some excellent shots of the park going through the seasonal change.
