    First Thread and need help!!!

Hey everyone. Proud to be a part of BP.net!!
ok so iv got a BP called dave and iv had him from birth for a year now and iv noticed as of late he isnt coming out as much as he used to at night. and also i htink he has a RI due to the mucas coming out of his mouth. this is the second RI hes had in the last 3 months. his tank is always at 33c..90f (sorry english) with a 70w red lamp during hte day so i dont think hes getting cold. he feeds every week. hes on asspen and has water and a hide. i was thinking of maybe getting him a ceramic bowl like a dogs one coz at the mo hes got a greeny (thats the colour not mould) 'meant to look like rock' water bowl. his water has this 'skin' on top of it in the morning, is that coz he uses it or is the water source the problem. i know this is alot but i do worry about the dear old boy.

any help is good help.. thanks!!!

Sounds like id look into the skin on top of the water thing... and get him to the vet to get him some meds for the infection going on. Mucas coming out of anywhere isnt good.

Is this the only heat source you have? If so that may be part of the problem. You need an under tank heater. Is 90* the surface heat or ambient heat? If that is the ambient heat with the bulb then the surface heat will probally be much lower without an uth. Just a thought...The skin on the water may also be from the mucus and him drinking. You really need to check that though like mentioned above. Get a gallon of distilled water and see if you get the same results. Need meds for the RI.

thanks guys thats brilliant. no i have 2 heat sources. the heat mat which during the day heats the floor to 90f and the red bulb acts as light cycle and added heat. the skin on top was suspicious i thought. ill go with the ceramic drinking bowl. cant thank anyone enough for replying.
