Re: what heating method do you prefer?

Personally I prefer UTH pads because I have a secret cheap source for them

However, as long as one has a reliable thermostat, flexwatt tape is a good, cheap, reliable heat source.

This maily depends on your coice of housing. If your using a rack Flex watt or heat cable is your best options with Flexwatt the the better of the two. If your using a tank you options open up a little more. I house in rack so I'm 100% Flexwatt

If you're going racks you're going flexwatt. All the heating pads I have seen say not to use them on plastics.

Totally, RHP's are the way to go if you're not keeping your snake in a tub

Re: what heating method do you prefer?

wen I had my 20L I had one of those blue night time bulbs and UTH hooked to an herpstat, it would annoy the hell out of me when I'm trying to sleep, as the herpstat hit its set temperature..the light dims or shuts off, then turns back on....then off. If u must use a bulb def go with a CHE but the humidity suffers.

Re: what heating method do you prefer?

I use a ceramic bulb for basking and then a pad under the tank for bely heating. Both are thermostat controlled. I have a dozen 75 gallon tanks with this setup. In those dozen tanks are Leachies(Giant Geckos),redtailed boas, ball pythons, bearded dragons,a russian tortoise,Mississippi map turtle.
I dont count my 10 gallons and 5 gallons. have maybe 50 total of the small tanks. I need to invest in some racks My basement is completely full now.
