    happy snake enclosures?

    http://happysnakecages.com/index.htm

anybody ever heard of these? I have the opportunity to pick one up used for $75 and it would be much better than the 50g glass tank that I have right now... I'm just havin so much trouble with temps and humidity...

Its 4x2x1... My snake is 2 years old and around 4ft long... I'd try to get one without the goofy theme

I know they aren't RBI but I really cant afford RBI right now and this would be a huge step up from 50g glass vivarium... My goal is basically to sell off the glass for $50-75 and pick this one up for fairly little out of pocket... I'm even gonna just call the guy and offer him a straight up trade (thank god for craigs list)

    Any thoughts / ideas?
    Thanks!

    Re: happy snake enclosures?

Wow, that sounds like a pretty good deal. I would just make sure that the cage is still in good condition and make sure that you check it out before you hand over the $. You just never know with people on craigslist sometimes lol. But a $400 cage for $75 is not bad at all and they look like pretty nice cages.

It would definitely be easier to maintain proper temps and humidity with that than a 50g tank. Does it have heat installed?

    Re: happy snake enclosures?

The new ones do have a few heat options but I dont know about the ones on craigslist... The fact that he is sellin $400 cages for $75 makes me wonder why?

If you look at the site it doesn't say anything about materials... I emailed the company asking them... It says not for snakes the require high humidity such as rainbow boa... those need 75-80% and thats what I need during shed... possible concern?

However I need to remember this is still might be an upgrade to my behemoth of a box i currently have now... And if i can do it for super cheap then i probably should...
    Thanks!

    Re: happy snake enclosures?

so here is the scoop... Nobody here will have ever head of them because apparently its some local dude here in Fresno...

    Cages are made out of:
3/4" particle board (some fancy name that sounded high tech)
    1/4" plexiglass for the front
Inside is actually coated with lanoleum flooring to make it easy to clean
sealed with a snake safe sealant (or so he says)

They are hand made, says it takes him about 10-12 hours of labor...

He has a bunch of them set up with snakes living in em... I think I might go check em out... He said no to the trade for the 50gal but I can probably sell that thing for even 50 or even 75 on craigslist anyways...

    I'll keep people posted...
    Thanks!
