Weighing ball pythons
Who here weighs their ball pythons? And at what periods of time do you weigh them (weekly, monthly, annually, or only during breeding)?

Re: Weighing ball pythons
I weigh mine weekly right when I am getting her out to feed. Probably not necessary, but I figured if I dropped the $$$ on a nice digital scale I might as well use it! I weigh her then weigh out the prey item and record so I can see over time how much weight is gained from eating a certain amount of food.

I weight them when I get the bug to. I'll pull an animal out see that I haven't gotten a weight in like three months so I slap I in on a scale. I really don't weigh as much as I use to. Its more about an animals look and feel. Some are lean some are stocky its just getting to know the animals.

Oh ok. The thing is that I use to weigh mines weekly. But i've been so busy lately that i cant do it every week on the same day. So I was just wondering what everyone else does.

Re: Weighing ball pythons
I usually weigh once a month. We've got so many snakes now it just makes sense to get a little "assembly line" type thing going with my girlfriend putting the weights into the computer while I take the snakes out and get them on the scale.

Re: Weighing ball pythons
When I get them I get a weight, I keep weights on any problem feeders. Other than that I weigh once a year, usually around October for breeding purpose.

Re: Weighing ball pythons
I rarely weigh my balls. Once I think they are getting close to breeding weight, then I will throw them on a scale.
