Never used these b4.
The ones that RBI sells come with mounting screws so you can mount it under the tanks lid. You would want it inside. RHPs are cool because they don't get particularly hot themselves, they more or less warm up the surface of the enclosure where the snake is . They will work to get the ambient temps up somewhat also and they don't suck moisture out of the air like a CHE.
