    Question Is Humidity Important?

I got my baby beardie a week ago at PetSmart and the guy told me no to worry about getting a humidity gauge. Was he right or do I need to be keeping an eye on his humidity? If so what should it be? Also, how often do dragons shed and is there anything that I should know about the process?

Yes they shed. Try doing a google search if you cannot find the information here. I do not know much about lizards, but you will need to feed daily and provide a source of UV light for vitamin production. There are specific needs, and reading some good care sheets would be a good place to start. http://ball-pythons.net/modules/Sect...warticle&id=55

they do shed and humidity is a little important. i spray the tank twice a week and bath once a week. they do eat their shed and its not harmful. and just like ball pythons you can tell when they are about to shed. there is alot of info on the web as well as here if you have any other questions feel free to ask everyone on here can help in some way.

Actually, the humidity in the tank should be low, but they need baths or misting every once in a while to keep hydrated. You should have a humidity gauge unless you live in a very dry area.

I never heard of that. Shows how much I still have to learn. Guess it's like some dogs eatin' their own poop.

I have to go get sick now...

    Re: Is Humidity Important?

You should have a humidity gauge; it is important, not because it needs to be high, but because it needs to be low. Always be aware of the humidity. If you have a regular inland bearded dragon (since you got it from PetCo, it is definitely an inland dragon), the humidity should not exceed 45%.
