They don't ask us any questions. They just tell us to either show up or be in trouble.

I have been summoned 4 times in the past 3 years. HOW CAN THAT BE RANDOM?!?!?!?!?!

The whole idea of this summoning crap is off the wall. I have to either call in a number EVERY day to see if my "group" is called. Then if I am so lucky as to have my group picked. I get to go sit at the court house, to see if my number has been called. I could sit there and never be called.

    Yay!!!! happy monday!!!

I'm one of those people - I'd love to serve on a jury - I got summoned once - they took a look at my degree (one of them is Criminal Justice) they took a look at the group I participate in (partnered with my local police as a civilian patrol) and turned me down. They thought I'd be biased.

In california, there is no section to put down movies that you like, or even degrees that you have acquired in school.

And like Stacey said, she is one of the people that would actually WANT to be a juror, so why the need for these "random" summons......

I'm 42 years old, and I've never received a jury summons. Not that I'm complaining, just found it odd. And I'm in a large metropolitan area. I bet I get home and get one now! LOL

I wonder if part of the problem is that people that would want to be jurors might also have a greater than usual interest in the justice system (like me) and they get ruled out as being biased or some such nonsense.

I mean - I have a crj degree and work with the police - it doesn't mean that I won't listen to a trial and the facts and make an unbiased decision. Shame really.

Part of the need for the random is if the same people always went there wouldn't be diversity in the jury - they want to avoid that I think.

Ah but Patrick think of how it must feel to live in a country where there isn't the jury system. While it can be a frustrating hassle to serve, for me anyways, I'd rather be asked to serve than have no system that needed that service from it's citizens.

I know, I would want it if I were on trial.
