Well my friend is useing Premier pet natural pine bedding for his ball python. I told him pine holds toxins and can be harmful for Bps,He told me he has been useing this stuff for 5years+ and hasnt had any problems what so ever.So my question is that is this type safe for snakes?

Re: bedding?
Personally I wouldn't use a pine substrate, but I am glad he has not had any problems. Did you have a reason you wanted to try this bedding, or were you just curious? This brand says it has been process to remove dust, which would help on some problems, I would still be concerned about the pine oils. Do a google search on the product and you can find the product information.

I was just curious. I use aspen, but I was just worried about him and his pet. I read a bag of it and it says "premier pet makes the hightest qyality animal bedding available we choose only natural material then carefully screen it removing dust and moisture to make the best possible use of your forest resources"
So I just want to know if it was safe for his sake.

Re: bedding?
On most bedding it will all say it's safe. I was at Tractor Supply Friday night to get more Aspen and was reading the back on other bedding. Even the label on the bags of ceder said it was SAFE for rats, mice, and snakes. I only use aspen or cyprus or a mix of the two. Don't always believe what you read.

Re: bedding?
Pine is fine if it is kiln dried.. or double kiln dried. thats likely what they mean by removing moisture? the oils that can harm the snake crystallize when dried in a kiln.
I would presonally avoid it. Recently I saw a post on another forum where several snakes died and the keeper had always used pine but a new batch may have killed them.

Re: bedding?
Lung scarring, liver failure and kidney failure doesn't always show up quickly.. Tell your idgit friend to get some blood samples from snakes kept on pine and from snakes kept on a healthy bedding. There will be differences in the values. Just because they are outwardly healthy doesn't mean a dang thing.

I don't like your rude talking my friend isn't an idoit. As of it now he was at the vet when i ran into him and we started talking about it,The vet said everything was fine but one retained eye cap.
